Every February around President’s day, the Southern Utah city of St. George is inundated with visitors from all over to go to the St George Parade of Homes.  Besides all the hype you hear about these homes, it has been a tradition in my family to go on the tour since we moved to Utah. I have been talking up the St George Parade of Homes to Chris since we first started dating and this was the year he finally got his first taste of all these unique homes.

Due to our crazy work schedules we were only able to make a quick weekend trip down to St. George which meant we had to pick and choose which homes we went to. We decided to stick to homes 1-9 and 18-20 since they were all grouped together, which meant…we went to Kayenta and Entrada!! As you’ll see below, our pictures this year are of mostly modern desert homes amidst the red rocks and lava fields. It makes for such a dramatic backdrop.

We’ll start with our favorite.

#4 The View

This house was spectacular. The name says it all, the views from this house are incredible, but what I loved the most is the light this house held. Each room, each nook, each shower even had well placed windows that lit the entire space with a dramatic red rock back drop.  You can see below what I mean.

#10 Kayenta

Kayenta is always on the top of our list. The drive out there is spectacular and typically the homes are too. This year was no different. If I could describe this house in three words I would say, Modern, Views and Rust. Don’t be fooled by the “rust” there is a rusted gate at the front entry that I was swooning over. Although, I may not actually see myself living in this house, I still loved discovering all unique angles and vistas each room had to offer.

Entrada – the Lava House

Living on the lava rocks isn’t for everyone and especially not for the weak at heart. This home is as unique as they come and if you’re anything like my husband all odd angles in each room might drive you bonkers. However non-normal this house may be it was still spectacular in its own right.
